SIEMENS - CITY WORKS

DIGITAL STRATEGY / USER EXPERIENCE / DESIGN DIRECTION

A SUSTAINABLE DESTINATION

CLIENT: SIEMENS

DATE: SEPTEMBER, 2012

CATEGORY: DIGITAL AND DESIGN DIRECTION

Having built 'The Crystal', a high tech building in London's docklands, Siemens were looking to tell the world about their sustainable cities initiatives. So we created them CITYWORKS.

Initially, the idea was to create a 'digital hub' where an award ceremony for Siemens' filmmakers could live, hosted by a CNN anchor. At the Crystal, users would receive information in exchange for social check-ins at the event space.

Although that didnt happen, we still featured a live streaming video broadcast of a panel discussion from Harvard Business Review, films and interviews from film-makers mentored by Davis Guggenheim, green solutions, and other information from The Crystal: all on a one-page scrolling site with evolving content requiring constant design updates.

TRAFFIC DRIVERS

A special native ad was created to look similar to editorial content, whilst clearly labelled as advertising. Cityworks animated display ads were tweaked throughout the duraton of the campaign.

BRANDING

After a little brainstorming, we came up with a modular campaign identity: CityWorks as the over-arching brand, with CityStories, CityHub, and CityNow flagging each section.
